My 2023 Mantra

I don’t do goals anymore – I do mantras. It’s not that I don’t believe in the power of achievement or the effort that goes into achieving goals. I absolutely do. I find I am much more intentional and can accomplish way more with something that focuses on my mindset. It allows me to go after things I never thought I could achieve.

For example, in 2021, my mantra was Be fierce. This simple yet powerful phrase gave me the courage to bet on myself and launch my own coaching business. Yes, I had started a coaching certification program in 2020, but the intent was never to launch my own business. And when I unexpectedly got my first client in February of 2021, my fierce self said YES to doing it on my own.

In 2022, my mantra was I make it happen - and let it happen. The underlying theme was self-trust and self-worth. I not only trusted in my skills and abilities as a coach, I trusted that the work I was putting in would garner success - that I was WORTH the success. And I was, as I over doubled my revenue from 2021 and feel confident I can do the same in 2023.

As I begin to embark on year 3 of my business, I’m embracing a mantra to propel me forward - MOMENTUM. Build it. Maintain it. Capitalize on it. Funny enough, I’ve started the year with COVID and the flu. In the words of Alanis Morissette, “Isn’t it ironic…don’t you think?”

All jokes aside, I am excited to see these words come to life this year – across all aspects of my life (physically, emotionally, relationally, intellectually, spiritually, and financially). What motivates me most is that small actions create big momentum. This sentiment goes along perfectly with my first self-development book of the year, “Atomic Habits” by James Clear which is all about building good habits through small, consistent changes (such as reading a few pages a day while recovering from COVID and the flu 😂).

This mantra is going to help me get 1% better every single day. And according to the book, that calculates to over 37Xs better over the course of one year. Talk about MOMENTUM! I am looking forward to learning and growing with you all this year.

What is your word or mantra for 2023?
