I could have had a bad day
I could have had a bad day…
My 3-month old laptop crashed on me yesterday just minutes before a very busy day. I saw the dreaded spinning wheel of death, followed by a number of error messages with scary words like:
😕Recovery assistance needed
😱Hard drive not found
🤔BitLocker Recovery Key needed for your device
Panic could have ensued, taking me into frantic reactionary mode. Group and individual coaching sessions could have been canceled with little to no notice.
The day could…have…been….bad.
Instead, I gained control over my day by relinquishing control💥 There was no hope for my laptop, so I pivoted.
5 hours later, I realized coaching via Zoom from my phone was better than anticipated. I had some of my best sessions yet! 👏👏👏👏
The laptop saga continued though…
More error messages and a major Windows update that the Geek Squad said could take up to 24 hours.🤷♀️ The technician suggested I put on some comfortable shoes and take a long hike or go to the grocery store to pick up the ingredients to make my favorite lunch. 😂
5 years ago, my blood would have been boiling. I would have rolled my eyes at “such a ridiculous” suggestion and raised my voice in disapproval.
Yesterday, I chuckled, thanked him for the suggestions and kindly ended the conversation quickly so I could jump back onto my phone for another client call. ⏩⏩⏩
Despite the multiple restarts and failed update attempts, my hard drive was not recovered. 👎
I had to start from scratch and set up my laptop again (thankfully I back up my hard drive often to the cloud or an external thumb drive - glad that paid off👍).
I have to say, I’m really proud of myself. I’ve been working very hard on my mental fitness over the last 4 years and in times like this, I can really see the payoff. 💪💪💪💪
Yes, I still have some bad days, but yesterday was not one of them. That’s a win in my book. 🥇🏆🥇🏆
