Comparing is NOT Caring

I’m finally seeing what has been holding me back over the last couple months. I’ve been comparing myself to others.

It’s not a crime, I know. It’s quite normal. But just because something is “normal” doesn’t mean it’s effective or serving me in any way. It’s actually doing the exact opposite.

The “I have tos” and “I needs tos” have been dominating conversations (with myself and others):

  • I have to do a weekly blog post because so-and-so does.

  • I need to determine my next video series because this TikTok expert says so.

  • I should be going after more clients because this coach just boasted about making 6-figures in one month.

Here’s what happens when these sabotaging thoughts take over:

  • AVOIDANCE: I went from doing a regular monthly blog post to a forced weekly blog post to NO blog post in nearly 4 months.

  • LACK OF MOTIVATION AND FEAR OF FAILURE: I believed I was not creative enough to make a new video series and feared it would completely tank.

  • LOSING MY AUTHENTIC SELF: I am not a financially driven individual. I never have been! Yes, we all need money, but it’s not what motivates me to succeed. So why was I being so hard on myself when I could be happy for this coach who just had a kick-ass month?

My solution is simple: remembering who I am and what MY PURPOSE in life is (not anyone else’s).

I’m committed to serving, helping, and inspiring others however I can. Part of that is owning my truth and sharing my stories in hopes that others can relate and own their truth as well.

What’s been holding you back lately? If you’re finding it’s playing the comparison game, perhaps it’s time to give yourself some time and attention and acknowledge your purpose in life.

Comparing is NOT caring. There’s only one you and that person deserves to be seen.

See you next month.
