A New Commitment

It’s quite ironic that the last blog post I did was about writer’s block and this month I’m committing to a weekly post.

What’s changed? My focus.

Up until this point, I have been running my coaching business on following my heart, which I am certainly not opposed to. In fact, my heart is the sole reason I’m doing this work – the work I’m TRULY meant to do. The work that I’m PULLED to do. The work that doesn’t feel like, well, work.

And while my heart was in the right place, it didn’t have an organized plan. Up until this point, it couldn’t. The idea of starting a business was too big for me to develop a “real” plan. I’m a doer. I simply started “doing,” which led to one client, then two, then speaking engagements, then a weekly video series, then a website, and so on. This non-plan worked for year one.

As I enter into year two, I’m starting to feel pushed in too many directions. I know it’s a push because I’m feeling tension and judgment inside me. The “I shoulds” are back. As I dig deep and feel what’s pulling me, the answer is simple:

Focus on my why to serve, help, and inspire others as much and as often as I can.

And the first step to support this idea is creating more content. Content that is authentically me. Content that allows me to “own my truth” to hopefully encourage and inspire you to do the same.

Last year I was not pulled to focus. Last year I was pulled to random creativity. And that worked! Perhaps it’s not the text book way of starting a business, but for me, it worked.

My focus is ON. My why is CLEAR. And I’m excited about making small commitments each and every day that support me on this amazing journey.

Do you feel pushed right now? Are the negative voices “shoulding” all over your day? Let’s make a small commitment together this week to combat the negative talk. And if you’d like to talk about it, click on the “contact me” link at the top to start the conversation!

See ya’ all next week.
